is it important?(feburary 14th)

on this day every year people all over the world have choosen to celebrate hearts and love and relationships...but what is the point of it?
a good friend of mine made a very good point when speaking of V-day...
couples already have their yearly anniverseries, their monthly anniverseries, anniverseries of ANYTHING they darn well choose to celebrate..
and with those sort of things it can even be MORE special than the hype of valentines day..everyone trying to keep up with the giving and the cards and the candy..its just a mess if you ask me.
and its not because i am some lonely lost cause without a hope of getting anything from someone...i have a boyfriend whom i've been with for over a year...but that doesn't make me any less annoyed at the existance of valentines day
i dont mean to be a party pooper...but maybe even after i'm married..maybe i wont choose to celebrate valentines day...maybe my husband and i will make up a new holiday all our own..and give it a name of its own..and teach that kind of thing to our kids...i dont want to warp them or make them be cuturaly sheltered..but...
valentines day: the day kids have to bring valentines for every kid in class and cookies or candy for their teachers..
i get tired of it i guess
